Luckily Grammie, Papaw, and Meme got to come for graduation too! Morgan was as cute as she could be, however, she was VERY serious about the whole thing! The only time she smiled was as she walked in, and as she walked out! The rest of the time she had a job to do, and you could tell her teachers had stressed that this was a BIG deal and manners were expected!
At the beginning, Miss Jackie, the director, gave them a little advice about going to big school.
She told them how big school would be exciting and fun, but maybe a little scary. She assured them that no matter what, Jesus would go to school with them and they could talk to Him whenever they needed to. It was so sweet to see her talking to them as if they were her own!
Next they got on the stage and did the pledge, sang You're a Grand Ol' Flag, and then demonstrated their sign language. Every week they would go to class to learn sign language, and Morgan loved it. Today they did their alphabet with 4-5 words for each letter, The Lord's Prayer, and Jesus Loves the Little Children. It was so awesome! Morgan watched her teacher closely and didn't miss one!
Last they got to walk across the stage and get their "diplomas". The funny thing is it was a blank piece of paper, just like in high school. Afterwards, when she unrolled it and showed it to us, I told her that was too bad, her grades hadn't come in yet! Ha!
After the ceremony there was a reception with cake and punch and then we stopped by her room to get a "special box" that her teachers had made. It is super cute and filled with keepsakes from the year. The most prized possession, a rock from the playground! Miss Stacey said that everyday the kids begged to take the rocks so she promised them when school was over they could have one!
The rest of the afternoon, Grammie and Papaw took Morgan to go get Clayton and they went to Build a Bear. The plan was to make a graduation bear, except neither one of the kids wanted it, they made dogs! Grammie offered to buy the graduation clothes, but still had no takers! Oh well, best laid plans! However, they both left happy and Grammie and Papaw saved some $$!
